Rhode Island Kidney Care Resources

Kidney care resources for Rhode Island families. Hasbro Children's Hospital (Providence) is Rhode Island's home for pediatric nephrology — part of the Lifespan / Brown University health system. Boston Children's Hospital (50 miles north) is the primary destination for complex cases and kidney transplant. Western RI families can also access Connecticut Children's (Hartford). The NKF Serving New England covers Rhode Island. Hand-curated and independently verified.

Pediatric Nephrology Centers

BCH for transplant: Rhode Island does not have a pediatric kidney transplant program. Hasbro Children's manages CKD and dialysis in-state, but all transplant evaluations and surgeries are performed at Boston Children's Hospital — the standard referral destination for RI children. Travel time from Providence to BCH is approximately 50–60 minutes.
Western Rhode Island families — towns in the northwestern corner (Foster, Glocester, Scituate, Burrillville) may also find Connecticut Children's (Hartford, ~70 miles) a comparable travel option for specialty follow-up. Check with your nephrologist about the most convenient outreach clinic.
